Your CV Shows What You Did. But Not What You’re Brilliant At
Share
Your CV is great for proving experience. But it does not show what you actually do best.
Every professional has a kind of brilliance that never makes it onto paper:
-
The salesperson who can turn a “no” into a “yes” in minutes.
-
The analyst who finds calm in a crisis.
-
The manager who spots what others miss in a 50-page report.
In an age of AI and automation, skills are learnable and everywhere but insight is rare.
That one thing you do effortlessly? That’s your brilliance. It’s the one thing a colleague would pull you aside for 15 minutes to ask about. It’s the strength your team relies on when things get tough.
So instead of asking, “What’s my next job title?” Ask: “What’s my unique value and how can I make it visible?” Focus on the value that you are already giving right now.
When you know how to continue to grow and add value, opportunities find you faster. Your confidence grows. Recruiters remember you. You also begin a virtuous cycle of contributing.
I’ll start: ✨ “I am strategic. I can find 3 new sales strategies in a 30-minute brainstorm."
